Rooted in its founding organization, Mentor A Promise, the brand carries forward a shared belief in the power of youth. Mentor A Promise centers on supporting students facing housing instability through education, mentorship, and opportunity.

With that same spirit, Thread & Promise was created to celebrate dignity, creativity, and resilience. It’s a brand built on empowerment—where every stitch reflects the promise of possibility. With every stitch, an individual can feel a proud recognition for the endless possibilities that Thread & Promise throws at their doorstep: sustainability, tradition, and a new future!

Thread & Promise’s commitment to ethical fashion aligns with a growing cultural shift toward sustainability. As Generation Z witnesses the impact of climate change, there’s been a collective turn toward conscious consumption—secondhand shopping, recycling, and sustainable design. Behind the seams, Thread & Promise continues to grow its creative vision through collaboration. Every partner, designer, and maker brings a unique perspective to the table. From teaming up with a student designer at FIT to working with FABSCRAP, a Brooklyn-based textile recycler, the brand turns intention into action.

With the help of design from a young and seasoned student at FIT, Thread & Promises' values stay true. The youth comes first. With a common vision, the brand and designers work together to create a timeless and relevant piece to society. One where it defies the rules of fashion norms (where something must be one of a kind and exclusive only to a certain level of class) and forces a conversation of inclusivitiy. 

With pre-consumer textile waste and ethical manufacturing, Thread & Promise confronts the cycle of overproduction and overconsumption—opening new conversations about accountability and purpose in fashion.

With shared creativity and vision, Thread & Promise and its collaborators craft pieces that challenge exclusivity and redefine what fashion can mean for everyone.

Design & Collection:

Thread & Promise’s first collection embodies inclusivity and purpose. It tells a story—one of workwear, labor, and endless possibility. The designs honor the history of labor and identity while looking toward the future of fashion.

The blend of the old, where we honor the resilience of those that come before us in uplifting labor for topics like the shaping of identity through workwear. While also promoting the new. A new vision of the future where possibility is key. It asks: should fashion mirror a collective worker identity, or celebrate the individual spirit of the wearer? Thread & Promise believes in the latter—fashion as a reflection of pride, purpose, and belonging.

From the first design sketch to the final stitch, Thread & Promise continues to break barriers through creativity and compassion.
